Alumni and other supporters have contributed more than $151 million to Texas State University since the start of a capital gifts campaign in 2006, an average of more than $21.5 million a year and $41 million more than the institution’s target.

The athletics department at Texas State announced Monday that the final six men’s basketball home games, and the final women’s home game, will be televised locally on KBVO-TV (Channel 14) and The CW Austin (Channel 54).
Probably, this isn’t the festive holiday season that Sun Belt Conference officials anticipated. The league succeeded this season at making seven of its eight football teams, including Texas State, bowl eligible. However, only two Sun Belt teams actually wound up with bowl invitations.
It turned out to be a Bleak Friday for Texas State after losing, 42-28, to Troy State in the final game of the Bobcats’ debut football season in the Sun Belt conference. The Bobcats finish the season 6-6 overall and 2-5 in their conference.
Texas State football fans may or may not remember these years of transition into bowl-level football. But this senior class of football players appearing at Bobcat Stadium for the last time Saturday is stamped by the transition, has fully lived it, will always be able to say it kept the train moving forward, and might, after all, be able to say even more.
Texas State creative writing lecturer Jennifer duBois clearly has the wherewithal to be a serious writer, perhaps an important one. If her recently published second novel is as flawed as a handful of critics think, she would not be the first author to fall flat in her sophomore effort.
